This session of D-Dance will be run on February 17th, 2019 at The National Ballet School (Studio 2A). All participants will take part in dance instruction and diabetes education sessions. These sessions are lead by amazing dance and diabetes professionals and are sure to be a great time.
STYLES OF DANCE: At D-Dance we teach all techniques. For our workshop on February 17th dancers can expect to take classes in the following dance styles...
- Hip Hop
- Contemporary and Improv
- Pilates and Therapy
Before you register here is some important information about this event...
AGE OF DANCERS:
This afternoon session of D-Dance is for dancers aged 14 to 17 years. There is another group for a younger age range (Junior Group ages 9 to 13 years).
IS DANCE EXPERIENCE REQUIRED? :
No dance experience is required. Just come out to move with us!
DO YOU NEED TO BE A T1D TO PARTICIPATE?:
This workshop is specifically catered to fuse dance and diabetes education. That being said if a non-diabetic sibling or friend would like to sign-up and dance along with us they are welcome to. Just be sure to understand that they will have to listen to discussions about diabetes. The more the merrier!
We are running a Two for One deal for this workshop. The registration cost for one dancer enables you the opportunity to bring a friend along for the day. You will have to also register the second participant in the system but only pay once.
WHAT DO I NEED TO BRING?:
Be sure to wear comfortable clothes you can move in. Also, footwear you can dance in. This could be actual ballet or jazz shoes OR a pair of CLEAN running shoes.
Diabetes supplies. Make sure to pack you glucometer, test strips, low supplies, etc. While we will be sure to have extra snacks and low treatments with us make sure to bring some of your own.
A great attitude - be ready to dance, smile, and have fun!
WHAT DOES REGISTRATION COST PAY FOR?
Lunch and snacks are provided for the day. There is NO need to pack lunches or snacks unless you choose to. All food for the day will be provided.
A D-Dance grab bag. All participants will leave that day with a bag full of goodies related to Type One.
Amazing instructors. The instructors for the day are some of the best in the business. with amazing resumes.
